Areas of Practice
I started my journey in 2008 when I came to the United States and started residing in the Central Valley region. I first got my real estate license within the first three-four months and started working on my business. I also continued my studies as a college student and ultimately graduated from California State University Stanislaus in Turlock, CA with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (with Suma Cum Laude Honor).
I become the business owner when I was about 21 years old and working on real estate and business opportunity sales. I began to understand the ups and downs of running a business. While dealing with the buyer and seller disputes on regular basis, I got immersed in researching details about different cases where such a situation arose and started finding interesting details about the laws. I like the research so much that I decided to become a lawyer in the future.
In 2013, I started my journey as a law student with Concord Law School now with Purdue University Global. I kept working on my brokerage business during my law school. I begin to understand the legal rights and wrongs I was doing in my business. Finally, I graduated from law school (with Honors) in the summer of 2017 and first the California Bar Exam on my first attempt in late 2017.
As a small business owner myself, I am naturally attracted to address the legal issues of other business owners. The issues may include lease agreements, entity formation and maintenance, employment relationship, real estate, and business transactions, and other related issues.
Since December 2001, I have been providing efficient, cost-effective and professional representation to small businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs. My practice is client-focused and results-oriented and I actively communicate with my clients during all phases of representation. My focus is on resolving problems for my clients expeditiously and with minimum expense. When necessary, I aggressively represent clients in courts or before administrative bodies in Contra Costa, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Joaquin and Solano Counties.
I believe in building strong relationships with clients, who are my greatest source of referrals and repeat business. My office serves as the off-site corporate counsel for many small and medium sized businesses.
I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and a J.D. from Golden Gate University. I am a past adjunct professor of law at Golden Gate University, where I taught Civil Litigation. I worked with many non-profit organizations, including Catholic Charities, Shelter Against Violent Environments and Charis, before going back to law school. I have worked in San Ramon since 2005, before which I had my office in Fremont. I am a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce. I regularly teach continuing education classes on Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession and Competence Issues.
I love to hike, read and write in my spare time. In August 2015, my novel The Little Stepmother was published by Tate Publishing.
We are a business minded firm, that is focused on making sure that its clients are well-informed about the legal obligation that they must comply with when operating their business. It takes more then just passion for companies to keep their doors open for business; it involves sweat, tears, resilience, patience, and dedication, which most people don't see. In this difficult economic landscape, we work with our clients to manage risks and understand contracts they sign so that matters can be resolved out of court. Often businesses avoid legal counsel because of exorbitant fees, but we provide various flat-fee options that are manageable for our clients.

Jay Zaheer is the Senior Partner of Zaheer Law Group, Jay did not take the traditional approach with regards to his legal educational career. Instead, Jay entered Law School after six years working in the legal field. After graduating High School in Brentwood, NY, where he was senior class president, Jay went to completing his Bachelors of Arts from University of Massachusetts-Boston. It has been his dream to be a lawyer since his first exposure to the legal field while on a High School trip to The United States Supreme Court in Washington D.C. While attending college, he received “Who’s who among Students in American Junior Colleges” award and after College, Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity honored him as the Alumni of Year award for his outstanding work as an Alumni counselor. Jay was also Multicultural Student Association President in College and South Asian Law Student Association President in Law School. “It has always been my goal to be well oriented with people from all walks of life, my experience and diverse background enables me to see and perceive things from the client’s point of view and I have used this asset to benefit my clients,” Jay explains.
Jay has worked as a paralegal in a busy personal injury law firm in New York and as a Litigation Paralegal Manager at a top 100-law firm in downtown Boston. Jay knew he wanted to be an attorney, but decided he wanted to expose himself in the legal field first to see if this was truly his calling. Sure enough, upon multiple promotions in his legal career, he knew it was time for Law School. Jay Zaheer attended Massachusetts School of Law and during his time in law school, Jay received multiple CALI awards. Jay worked though out his law school career and on the weekends worked at the school’s law library to support his family. While in school, Jay also became a certified student attorney and volunteered time at the Northeast Housing Court with “Lawyer for the day” program.
Upon gradating law school and being sworn in, Jay immediately opened a law practice. Jay’s love for the Real Estate field and outgoing personality has landed him as a regular guest speaker at First-Time Home Buyer Seminars in Medford and Bradford, MA and he also appeared as a guest speaker for the Boston Bar Association. “As a landlord tenant attorney I have tried many cases and each and every time before I start preparing for trial, I hear my one of my professor’s voice, “outwork your opponent,” says Jay. When asked how Jay handles the stress of running his own firm, Jay passionately explains, “You know what it takes to successfully run your own law firm? It takes motivation, drive, patience and a whole lot of elbow grease. Yes, I do pick up a client call at 11pm on a Saturday and meet clients after hours, and it is initial sacrifices like these that gets a lawyer repeat business. Make each client feel like they are your only client.”
