Whether you’re saving, spending, borrowing or refinancing, City Credit Union can serve your financial needs. City CU membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the following Texas counties:Although it may be hard to believe, City CU started with only $50 in deposits in 1942, which was the minimum amount required to obtain a Credit Union Charter from the State of Texas. The first official meeting of City CU took place on August 24, 1942, in the Central Council Chamber of the old City Hall. It was decided that the Board of Directors would consist of nine members, with the Supervisory Committee consisting of three members. Operations began in a small cubby hole in the basement of the old City Hall in the Police Detail room. The credit union soon outgrew the space and moved to the fourth floor of the old City Hall. The first financial statement was completed on August 31, 1942. Loans outstanding totaled $100; total cash was $1,712 and assets totaled $1,812.Now, 77 years later, we serve anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Dallas, Collin, Denton, Rockwall, Kaufman, Ellis, Grayson and Cooke counties. Led by President and CEO Sharon Moore, City CU has grown to $460 million in assets, with 36,000 Members and more than 100 Associates.City CU continues to provide free financial education and counseling to our Members, low-cost financial products and great rates on consumer loans. At City CU we’re making the difference, one Member at a time.
