Inside the Indian Elections (STUDENTS ONLY)

Event description UCHICAGO STUDENTS ONLY The world’s largest democracy is concluding its general elections, with results to be announced on May 23. How can these results be compared to India’s 2014 elections, which brought Prime Minister Narendra Modi to power? How do we grapple with the arithmetic of coalitions? What was the role of representation – of caste and of religion – and how will it change in the near future? Join us at the IOP as we welcome Rohan Sandhu (AB’12) for a conversation on these elections and the future of Indian politics. Mr. Sandhu has served as chief of staff in the office of a Member of Parliament in India, as well as a consultant for the Finance Department in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He is now Associate Director of Projects for International Innovation Corps, setting up India operations for a social impact consulting program based at UChicago. Lunch will be provided.
