Important Information regarding Safety & Emergency

Important Information regarding Safety & Emergency

Several law enforcement agencies in the US set to protect the public has laws which vary from state to state. Some of these agencies are under the federal government while others are under State and local government authorities. In your community, the police and the sheriff are the law enforcement officers. Since the police are always there to protect and serve you, it is imperative that you have the phone number of the police station nearest to you and ensure to always keep it handy on your mobile or telephone device.

Report any crime happening around you both when you’re the victim or not. Do not be afraid to do so as some criminals would like to take advantage of foreigners as they feel you will likely not report the crime to the police.

Regardless of your residency status or citizenship, it is important that you know how to exercise your rights when stopped by a local police officer FBI, immigration officer or any law enforcement authority officer.

When stopped by an officer while walking, do not be scared, do not run. Identify yourself if you are required to do so. Ensure that language is not an issue for you. If you do not speak or understand English, let the officer know that you do not speak English. Do not argue with the officer or resist him even if you think your rights are being violated and you are innocent. Always remember that you have the right to remain silent if you are not comfortable with answering some questions, tell the officer you wish to remain silent about them. Always keep your hands where the officer can see them. Do not try to search yourself or reach your hands into your pocket when stopped by an officer. However, the officer has the right to “pat down” your clothing by himself if he suspects you have a weapon. You have the right against further searching but do not physically resist. Ask the officer when you are free to leave. If he says you can, quietly and silently walk away. If he’s arresting you, you have the right to know why you are being arrested.

Once stopped by a police officer while driving, stop the car as quickly as possible and park in a safe place, stay calm, remain in the car, put on the internal light if it’s dark. Whine down your glass, place your hand on the wheels and do not step out of unless the officer asks you to do so. The police officer will quickly tell you why you were stopped, if he doesn’t do so, ask him politely why he stopped you. If he thinks you have committed a crime, they will ask you for your name and address. When they do, tell them. When responding to an officer, try to be very polite and cooperative as much as you can. Do not try to reach your hands into your pockets or into other parts of the car to avoid the officer thinking you’re reaching for a gun. If you are the driver, the police officer can ask you for your driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance. If you are asked to provide them, do so. Whether you are the driver or passenger, you have the right to remain silent. If you are the passenger, you can also ask the officer if you are free to leave, if he says yes, quietly leave or sit silently. Do not answer questions you are not comfortable with as what you say could be used against you. If you’re not comfortable with questions regarding your immigration status if asked by the police, politely decline to answer. A police officer can search your car without your consent if he believes your car contains evidence. Otherwise, you can refuse to consent to a search if he asks to look inside your car.

When the FBI or Immigration Agent comes to your home, you can decide not to let him into your house if they do not have a certain kind of warrant. You can ask the officer to show you the warrant through the window or slip it under the door for you to inspect it before you let them in. If an officer comes in with a search warrant, he is only allowed to conduct a search at the address listed on the warrant and cannot search for items not listed in the location listed. An ICE warrant (removal or deportation) does not give the officer the right to enter any house without consent.

When contacted by the FBI either at home or your workplace, if you don’t wish to, you do not have to speak to an FBI agent. You can request to speak with a lawyer first. You can choose not to be interviewed is asked to meet with an agent for an interview. It is advisable that you have a lawyer present before you answer questions to an interview with an FBI agent. You can choose not to answer certain questions you are not comfortable with.

Call 9-1-1 to report an emergency such as a fire, a crime in progress, or a person in need of medical help. If someone swallows a poisonous substance, you can also call 1-800-222-1222 to reach a local poison control center.

Well if you legally here you don’t need to worry about anything and whoever visits you from law enforcement , if you are here illegally overstayed your visa then you need to follow the rules and work with law enforcement

Disagree. You need to follow the rules and cooperate with law enforcement regardless of your status. In fact most law enforcement officers in some states like California don't give a dime if you are out of status if they stop you; all they are concerned about is that you abide by the law and cooperate.

Out of status is the right description not illegal. Also you still have all rights. Don’t need to talk to them, If you are uncomfortable. Good idea will be have an attorney present. The law of the country is applicable to everyone legal or out of status or undocumented.

There is nothing called out of status , if you are found to have extended your stay beyond the visa period, don’t have a visa , don’t have any status ..you have officially broken immigration law of the US .. and immigration is a Federal Jurisdiction and not a state , the reason why you have the DACA program is because the federal government under Obama made it a law with executive order , and why most states like CA and NY primarily democrat run liberal states have a relaxed policy is because they want the cheap labor . So in those states you get in trouble only if you commit a crime and that to if you get ICE involved .. illegal immigration has a lot of impacts on the country and is an insult for people who have done it the right way waiting in que , spending years and tons of money on lawyer to do everything the right way !

You are wrong. It is as simple as that. But your view and opinions is shape by a different narrative. Without NY and CA USA will not be what it is today.

Noni you are completely wrong , I am explaining the premise of immigration and how you are considered legal and illegal and by the way NY and CA did not create the US the US is a union of states , what it is today is because of policies and by the way NY and CA are states that have the highest taxes and largest deficits largest prisons and most crimes , I would say a great example is GA, TX, FL where the tax codes and pro business and tax friendly

Also in most instances the illegal alien is exploited by greedy individuals or companies and get lured into a lot pf vice activity like drugs and prostitution because of survival and threat of being called on to ICE or Law enforcement

Also you don’t need to spend a ton of money on attorneys, if you are doing it the right way. You could file the papers yourself. 😊

Not debating, if illegal as you say it or my view out of status or undocumented. Was simply stating the facts. Who are we to judge anyone circumstance. The debate about immigration at this moment in this country is not about law or what is right. It is purely political move, by this administration. To rally his base , white who think they are superior. ( Thinking only.) Oh, by the way Canada up north is welcoming and the process is lot faster. There are over 13 millions undocumented in the USA. With children who are US citizens. Along the border families live both side. So they should go back to the right side of the border. This is a very complicated issue. in a humane way a solution should be found . Let not have the red caps/ or white sheets have the narrative going and we foolishly believe it.

It is easy to say Immigration is a political move , it is much more than that because of all the reckless and greedy politicians over the years they have gutted American manufacturing , shipped jobs to China and other cheaper places , killed small business and never improved the education system to match the skill requirements like coding , production etc.. Only the current administration found it to be an issue and they did something about it ! Manufacturing jobs returned , small business boomed , China was put on notice .. Guys think about it .. No country in the world allows this kind of immigration ... do u think India allows it .. Never ! They are trying to deport refugees or undocumented in West Bengal .. And about Canada ! good luck ... Canada is no US and will never be a US .. I am very passionate about this topic because I have seen the impacts of illegal immigration in communities in the US it’s impact on jobs, livelihoods of people and the economy .. we have to be loyal to the country that welcomed us and helped us integrate and I am thankful everyday for the opportunities that I have , also like everybody I pay an awful lot of money in Taxes over $80k per year and I have full right to have my opinions and know where our tax dollars are going and don’t want it spend on services for people who are illegally here !

Out of status = breaking the law = just because you overstay your Visa doesn't mean it's still right, it's wrong to overstay your visa.

Well never work for anyone. Always am the employer. So can’t say much there. So the meat packing and the agricultural industry we should have US born worker there. 😂. Be real ,the gaslighting of America is going on. In the old time they have a Uncle Tom in the plantation. Seem like we have the new set of Uncle Tom. Loyalty to the Country is important and when we see something is wrong should speak up. If we do not see what is so wrong in this administration I think a lots of folks had drank the kool aid. What manufactures jobs came back🤦🏽‍♂️? So let be clear .. all the farm laborer and meat packing workers should be deported. Yes, the local US born Midwest white should work at these job. 👍🏼. All IT workers should go back to India and H visa should be canceled. So the guys from Alabama, Mississippi.. ahh you know who I am talking about should do the coding etc. Or they just have office overseas and pay them the factions of what they should get over here. We start with what a person should do when approach by law enforcement agency and by default we are discussing far right political narrative here🤣. We are our brothers keeper.

We could pick and choose whatever data we want, but button line is we are in a recession. Last time there was a balance budget was during Bill Clinton time. Then 2008 happened and of course the Obama administration dig us out of the hole. Both of the time after the republican administration.
