Being a group admin means you're responsible for group activity, privacy, content and moderation in the group. All members can, of course, contribute and post in the group. But as an admin, you can delete bad posts or highlight the good ones, determine the group rules and lead the discussion.

This guide will walk you through how to manage your homeis groups so you can work better together.

Group Privacy

There are 3 different privacy types:

  • Public: anyone can see the group, its members, and its posts.
  • Private: anyone can see the group and who's in it. Only members can see posts.
  • Private without visibility: only members can see who's in the group, see who's in it, and see posts.

Multiple Admins

Group admins can give admin privileges to anyone they choose. Choose from members lists the friends you want to join the group management so you won't have to do it alone.

Group Name

With a catchy, creative, and descriptive name, your Group will be memorable and easy to search.

Group Description

Your group’s description is one of the first points of interest for potential members so it’s important to make sure your description is brief and informative.

The description of the group should specify who should join the group, why they should join and what members can expect out of the group.

Group Cover Photo

Set the tone for the group by adding a Cover photo.

New members

Group admins can approve and decline new members' requests (in private groups) and remove members in the Group Members section.

Group Activity

  • As group admin you can highlight the post in the highlighted post view at the top of the group.
  • As group admin you can pin a post to the group feed.
  • As group admin you can delete and report inappropriate content.
  • As group admin you can send a message to all members of the group using Group Announcement feature at the members lists page.

Created a new homeis group? Here are a few things you can do to start it off now:

Reach out your homeis: Reach out and invite other homeis members to join your group, even if you don’t yet know them very well. You can use homeis People to find users you think would be interested in joining.

Kick off the conversation: It’s important to get the discussion going with some posts of your own. You can publish relevant content, questions, or anything else you think members would enjoy and engage with.

Keep things under control: Discussions can get heated. As an admin, you can moderate and maintain a positive atmosphere by reaching out to members who might be breaking the group rules, and setting discussion boundaries.

Meet your homeis: Online meet-ups and events are the best to get your group members to really connect. Host an event to get people together.
