Members of our community who are residents when using the Platform and Services in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), which includes the member states of the European Union (“EU”), should consult the sections of this policy relating to the “Rights of EEA Residents” and “International Data Transfers” for a description of their rights under EU law.
If you are a California resident, you should consult the section of this policy titled “Your California Privacy Rights” for rights that apply to you.
We collect personal information about you when you visit or sign-in to the Platform. “Personal Information” is information that may be used to directly or indirectly identify you, including your name, e-mail address, or other information about you. We collect the minimum amount of Personal Information to allow you to use the Platform. The majority of such Personal Information is collected when you register with the Platform, log-in, connect with members of your community, subscribe to find information about us and your community, or provide information or content for the Platform. We must collect some of this Personal Information to provide you Services. We collect other Personal Information to provide our users with more individualized Services.

We also collect some Personal Information that does not identify you specifically and that may combined with information of other users that does not identify them to help us maintain the Platform and improve user experiences of the Platform.
We also may use your Personal Information to guard against potential fraud, contact you if there is a problem with your account, answer your questions, and communicate with you to inform you about our Platform and Services.
If you choose to connect to us through a third-party social network such as Facebook or another website we may collect Personal Information from your profile on the social network, such as your name, user name, and e-mail address. In addition, we offer features that allow you to share information from our Platform to another social network Platform or share information from those Platforms. These features may allow the sharing and collection of information both to and from a social network. We do not operate these other websites so we recommend that you check their privacy policies.
Like many other websites and platforms, we use analytic tools to understand how our users are interacting with our Platform and to improve our services. Those tools including Google Analytics, which may collect information about you including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, and internet service provider (ISP); your operating system; which of our web pages you access and how frequently you access them; referral or exit pages; click stream data; and the dates and times that you visit the Platform. The information collected by cookies is anonymous and is not associated with any user as an individual. The purpose of these tools is to build a Platform that better serves our communities by being efficient and effective.
Similarly, we may gather anonymous information about web surfing to better serve you. For example, we may use such information to improve the usability of our Platform and to improve the Platform. None of this information is linked to an individual user.
We will only provide information to law enforcement or government agencies if we obtain a legally valid request. We have strict policies in place to review such requests and will only provide information if we are required by law to do so. We otherwise will not provide information to law enforcement or government agencies.
We will not share your Personal Information if such sharing is prohibited by applicable privacy and data protection law, including, without limitation, the EEA’s General Data Protection Regulation effective May 25, 2018.
We are providing information relating to rights of residents of the European Economic Area (“EEA”) if you use our Platform in the EEA. A “resident” of the EEA is an individual who is physically present in the EEA. This section does not apply to EEA citizens who are resident outside of the EEA (for example, a French citizen who is resident in the United States). The EEA consists of the member states of the European Union, i.e., Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, and Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. This section also applies to residents of Switzerland and, in the event of its departure from the EU, residents of the United Kingdom. Residents of the EEA and Switzerland are referred to here as “EEA Residents.”
From May 25, 2018, all processing of Personal Information of EEA Residents is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons regarding the processing of Personal Information and on the free movement of such data (“GDPR”).
Under the GDPR, we are both a controller and a co-processor of the Personal Information of EEA Residents. Our purpose for collecting and processing Personal Information from EEA Residents is to authenticate subscription to our mailing lists, allow users to subscribe to and log in to our Platform, and to provide our Services to members of our communities. Our legal basis for collecting Personal Information is your agreement to subscribe to our e-mail lists and to use our Platform. You may withdraw consent for our collection your Personal Information and receiving communications from us by following the “Unsubscribe” instructions on any communication you receive from us or by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
EEA Residents may obtain information about the Personal Information we hold about them by contacting us at email@example.com.
If you are resident outside the United States, including in the EEA, we transfer Personal Information provided by you for processing in the United States. Please note that the United States does not have data protection laws equivalent to those in the EEA and other jurisdictions. Under the GDPR, we are considered a “controller” and a “co-processor” of the Personal Information of EEA Residents. By providing Personal Information to us, you are consenting to the processing of such data in the United States. The transfer of your Personal Information to the United States is necessary for the performance of your agreement with us. We will process your data in the United States according to your instructions and respecting the privacy of your Personal Information. If you do not wish to have your Personal Information processed in the United States, please unsubscribe from our services.
We will send you email notifications from time to time. Some notifications are communications relating to us and our Platform and Services. You may “opt-out” from receiving such communications by following the “Unsubscribe” instructions provided in the e-mail.
If you want us to delete your Personal Information and your account, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your request. We will take steps to delete your information as soon as we can, but some information may remain in archived/backup copies for our records or as otherwise required by law. You may also delete your information directly from the Platform or the application.
We keep your Personal Information for as long as you use our Services or as necessary to fulfill the purpose(s) for which it was collected, provide our Services and comply with applicable laws.
Our Platform is based on serving individuals to exchange information in their communities in a trusted and private way. We respect the privacy of these communications but reserve the right to enforce our guidelines as to these communications. Please consult the Terms of Service for other conditions relating to communications using our platform.
We take commercially reasonable steps to protect your Personal Information against unauthorized disclosure or loss.However, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.Therefore, while we strive to protect your information we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us.
If you believe your Personal Information is being improperly used by anyone, please immediately notify us via email at email@example.com.
Our Platform is restricted to the use of adults and no portion of our Platform is directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifying information from any person we know is a child under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under 13 years of age and you believe your child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are a California consumer, you will have the right to request that we disclose what Personal Information we collect, use, disclose and sell about you. You also have the right to submit requests to delete certain Personal Information.
When we receive a request to know or delete from a California consumer, we will confirm receipt of the request within 10 days and provide you with information about how we will process the request, including process for making sure that you are the individual who is making the request. We will respond to such requests within 45 days.
If you are a California consumer, you may also submit requests that we disclose specific types or categories of Personal Information that we collect about you.
Under certain circumstances, we are not required to provide you with this information, including where the disclosure of the information would create a substantial, articulable and unreasonable risk to the security of that Personal Information, customers’ account with us, or the security of our systems or networks. If you are a California consumer, we will also not disclose your social security number, driver’s license numbers or other government-issued identification numbers, financial account numbers, any health insurance or medical identification numbers, or account passwords and security questions and answers.

If we receive any request from you we will use a two-step process for online requests where the California consumer must first, clearly submit the request and then second, separately confirm the request. We will use other appropriate measures to verify requests received by mail or telephone.
If you are a California consumer submitting a request, you must provide sufficient information to identify yourself, such as name, e-mail address, home or work address, or other such information that is on record with us so that we can match such information to the Personal Information that we maintain. Do not provide social security numbers, driver’s license numbers,account numbers,credit or debit card numbers, medical information or health information with requests. If your request is unclear or submitted through means other than described above, we will give you specific directions on how to submit the request or remedy any deficiencies. If we cannot verify your identity, we may deny the request.
Although some browsers currently offer a “do not track (‘DNT’) option,” no common industry standard for DNT exists. We therefore do not currently commit to responding to browsers’ DNT signals.

If you use our Platform, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for restricting access to your computer or device.
