I enjoy recreation and travel with my family, hikes in the forest, trail running with my dogs, watching football and basketball games, mountain biking, reading both fiction and non-fiction, and volunteering for some charitable organizations that I admire.  Our law firm enjoys helping people who need our help with injury and death claims and the many unexpected issues that arise.  We enjoy developing strong and lasting relationships with our new clients. We take particular pride in using our expertise in connection with personal injury recovery liens (Medicare, AHCCCS/Medicaid, ERISA, Medical Provider, workers compensation and other rights of recovery and/or liens against the injured person's settlement, award or judgment) to obtain lawful discounts in the amount owed. We usually do not charge our clients anything additional for this lien reduction legal work. We also enjoy getting good results for our clients in the few cases that cannot be resolved by settlement.  For example, in October of 2010, we obtained a jury verdict for $655,000 for an elderly woman injured by a negligent driver while walking in a crosswalk. The other driver offered only $15,000 to settle. Her lawyer asked the jury at the end of the trial to award only $110,000 despite our client having over $200,000 in medical expenses. In another case, we represented a 94 yr. old man with Alzheimer's disease who was swindled by his granddaughter and her husband out of his life savings. At trial, we proved that 11 bank accounts were used to create confusion as to where the money went, but we proved to the jury that over $400,000 was taken. The jury verdict included our legal fees, taking the total to $560,000.

James grew up in a small town in North Carolina, where he learned to value hard work and commitment. He attended college at North Carolina State University, where he received degrees in Biochemistry and Zoology.  James originally planned to attend medical school, but discovered, toward the end of his college career, that he had an aptitude and a love for the law. James attended law school at the University of Georgia, where he received his Juris Doctor in law. Because of his strong medical and science background, his first job in law was with a medical malpractice defense firm in Atlanta, Georgia. James soon learned that representing doctors and insurance companies was not a very good fit for someone who favored the individual over large corporations. Time and again James was on the side of the corporation that trampled over the individuals’ rights and found himself in conflict with his personal values. Determined to use what he had learned from working with some of the best insurance defense lawyers in the country to help individuals rather than insurance companies, James opened his own law firm in his native state of North Carolina in 1994. Since then, James has represented thousands of injured people against insurance companies. In 2010 James fulfilled a long-time goal by coming to Alaska and making it his home. He began assisting with commercial litigation cases, but it was not long before his preference for helping individuals over corporations compelled him to open another law firm to help injured people. The Crowson Law Group opened its doors for the first time in 2011. Since then, hundreds of Alaskans have turned to James for help with their injury cases, and the Crowson Law Group has already acquired a reputation among insurance companies and their counsel as an able adversary. Alaska has been good to James professionally, and personally James has quickly seized every opportunity to get the most out of his Alaskan experience. James enjoys skiing, snowmobiling and other outdoor sports. He also has coached high school football for many years. Currently, he coaches at East High School.

Craig McClellan is one of the few attorneys who can say that he has made a difference in this country's safety standards, resulting in many lives being saved and many injuries avoided.  A pioneer in modern product liability litigation, Craig’s trials and settlements are credited by the Department of Justice with helping ban three wheel All Terrain Vehicles from the U.S. market.  One of his cases is cited as bringing about the installation of 3-point shoulder harnesses in automobile rear seats.  Another case generated laws barring secrecy agreements. The persevering and tenacious litigation Craig has pursued has landed his cases on 60 Minutes, 20-20, the McNeil-Lehrer Report, CBS Evening News, and countless other programs because of their ground breaking precedent.  Not surprising for someone who has always been a leader – as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, as Editor-in-Chief of his schools’ Law Review, and as the first and only San Diego attorney selected for admission into the Inner Circle of Advocates, the prestigious invitation-only group that limits its membership to 100 of the top plaintiffs’ attorneys in the country.  Moreover, with over 125 verdicts and settlements in excess of one million dollars each, he leads all San Diego lawyers in the number of large recoveries. Craig used to race cars, and still participates in driving events.  Because of his racing background, he has had an interest in high speed, exotic car crashes.  One of his first multi-million dollar verdicts was against Porsche, when the jury found the death of a passenger in its 930 Turbo Porsche was because the vehicle was “too dangerous for the average driver.”  That case made international headlines, as did another case against Porsche last year for defects in the $450,000 Porsche Carrera GT, which led to the death of two at the California Speedway.  The San Diego based McClellan Law Firm practices around the country and has had cases arising from as far away as Argentina.  From exploding gas tanks to massive landslides, not only does the firm take on the biggest industry and governmental entities, but it does so with the latest litigation techniques and technology.  Craig tried the first paperless trial in the country in Indiana in 2003. As one would expect, he is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Master of the American Inns of Court, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and past President of its San Diego Chapter.  He is a former Board member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego (where he also served as an Officer,) and the San Diego Chapter of the American Business Trial Lawyers.
