A plaintiff's law firm is measured by many things including, the experience of the attorneys, the size of the awards, and the percentage of cases won, settled or dismissed. But these are just numbers and they will never be a substitute for the most important thing of all: the values of the people you are working with. At the Law Offices of Arthur S. Charchian expect Honesty, Accountability and Accessability: "The grandest homage that we can pay to truth is to use it." - Ralph Waldo Emerson    We will tell it how it is!       "In any organization, personal responsibility and accountabilitybegin at the top." - Nathaniel Branden    You depend on us! We are here for you!       "Good communication is the key to success." - Dr. Bill Lampton    Your calls will be answered, your messages returned, and clients will be kept up to date on their cases!     These are my promises to you.      Arthur S. Charchian

Why did I become a lawyer? I chose law with the intent to bring justice to a broken world, to vindicate the rights of the weak, vulnerable and oppressed, and to confirm that justice is blind, ensuring equality to all people.  To me, the law is a calling because I approach it as a way of serving others. I'm proud to be a veteran trial lawyer with offices in Little Rock and Texarkana.  I am licensed to practice law in Arkansas, Lousiana, and Texas.

Valerie Bradbury was drawn to the law from an early age and has been working in the legal field now for nearly twenty years. She started in 1998 with a firm in Northern California and moved down to Southern California to open a new office for that firm.  Valerie completed two degrees while working for that firm. Valerie graduated with honors from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelors Degree. She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California.  While at Whittier, Valerie traveled to France and Spain to study International Human Rights. Valerie completes far more than the required continuing legal education units, particularly those focused on legal ethics and civil litigation, as part of her post-graduate education.  She applies this principle to her everyday work as well, applying more than best practices to all of her casework.   Valerie has been practicing as a licensed attorney for nearly a decade, almost entirely in plaintiff litigation. She was the Managing Attorney for a personal injury law firm for a few years. She started as the sole employee from day one of the firm’s inception and built if from the ground up to be an extremely successful law firm with a staff of 30 in three short years.  The firm was so successful while she was Managing Attorney that they were able to purchase an office building in Newport Beach.  Her personal caseload included the Chatsworth Mass Tort Litigation, which settled for $200 million.  Valerie Bradbury believes that giving back to the community is of the utmost importance. For this reason, she has devoted her time and services to volunteering in a multitude of charitable organizations.  She has done volunteer work for The Learning Rights Law Center, The Orange County Public Defender’s Office, and The Human Rights Project.  She has focused her volunteer efforts on fighting for rights, civil rights, special education rights, and international human rights.

Since 1984 I have worked as a trial lawyer, I am surprised at how much I still love this job. I get to meet so many different folk, in so many different walks of life, and I am always learning something new and challenging.   The down side of doing this work however, is that so often you are dealing with people in a miserable situation. Their lives have been turned upside down by a catastrophe, that should have been avoided, had it not been for someone else's carelessness or wrongdoing. It's heartbreaking to see what some people go through. But clients don't come to you for pity. What they need from you, as their lawyer, is to help pick up the pieces, and obtain justice.    That is where the up side of being a lawyer comes in, because there is no greater feeling of acomplishment when you are able to obtain justice for your client.  In the end, it is a basic human need to feel that you made things better in this life. I get the chance to do this every day when I show up to work.  What more can you ask for?

After spending 20 years in solo practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic in Huntington Beach, California, I took that experience and entered the practice of personal injury law.  I believe it is quite helpful to me to understand my clients' injuries as well as their own doctors.

Since joining Berman & Simmons in 2006, attorney Susan Faunce has represented clients throughout Maine who have been harmed by personal injury and medical negligence. She currently leads the firm’s mass tort practice, which involves dangerous drug and medical device litigation, and works on medical malpractice and wrongful death cases. Susan is motivated by compassion for her clients and an interest in medicine.  From a young age, Susan knew she wanted to become a lawyer, in hopes of making a significant impact on people’s lives. Today she is one of Maine’s leading young lawyers: Susan was recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” and named to Benchmark Litigation’s “Under 40 Hot List.” “I was raised by a single mother who spoke limited English and I lived in an underdeveloped country as a young adult,” Susan says. “These experiences have taught me to be courageous, resourceful, and persistent. I understand that every case carries both legal and emotional aspects, and I believe every client should have a strong advocate who will work tirelessly to successfully resolve their case.”  Susan is a graduate of Bowdoin College where she majored in Government Studies and Asian Studies.  After college she worked as a paralegal on high-profile intellectual property cases at a major Boston law firm. She joined the Peace Corps and served in Morocco, teaching English to local high school students and French to women in the community. Susan chose to return home to Maine and earned her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law. Susan is co-chair of the Women’s Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association and a board member of the Robbie Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides funding for adaptive equipment and therapies for special needs children.
