In addition to my work as an attorney, I have been very involved in civic affairs, having served on two school boards and my local library board as well.
For many years, I was a youth soccer referee, having officiated in hundreds of matches from U-6 to U-18, both under AYSO and USSF competitions.
I enjoy bicycling, travel, photography and poker.
One of my most interesting experiences was serving as a consultant to the World Bank in putting into place a bankruptcy system for the Republic of Mongolia in 1998-1999.
Jerome S. Cohen is the firm’s founder. Known for being a creative and results oriented attorney, Mr. Cohen has prevailed in both trial and motion practice before the bankruptcy courts, and has achieved favorable out of court settlements in national, regional, and local scale cases. In Chapter 11 debtor representation, he has "confirmed" numerous reorganization plans for his clients. He has obtained a significant external recognition of cost effective service and value added -- substantial judicial approval of his fee requests.
Mr. Cohen has more than four decades of business and legal experience. For two decades, he has specialized in business bankruptcy and insolvency matters. Mr. Cohen’s clients have included private and governmental entities, individuals, partnerships, and corporations. Since 2001, Mr. Cohen has carried the designation "Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law", conferred by the American Board of Certification, a highly respectable national peer review body. Few American lawyers can claim this distinction. Mr. Cohen's clients have included, on the creditor side, the City of Long Beach (as crude oil supplier to Chapter 11 debtor Thrifty Oil Company); Farmers and Merchants Trust Company of Long Beach; Fifth Third Trust Company (Ohio); Shoreline Village (owner of the Long Beach landmark waterfront shopping center); Franconia Two (owner of Tyson's Corner Mall, Virginia); and numerous other creditors in America and overseas, including creditors of airlines in Chapter 11. Mr. Cohen holds a Bachelor's Degree from Swarthmore College and a law degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School, and Bar Admissions in California, Delaware, District of Columbia, and Maryland. He received an AV Rating from Martindale Hubbell. For 2012 and 2013, the publication "Super Lawyers" has listed Mr. Cohen in its Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights category.

Julia Kefalinos criminal defense and bankruptcy firm was established in 2006 after 16 years of service to the community as a Miami-Dade County Assistant Public Defender. From 1991-2006 Julia defended thousands of indigent people accused of crimes and unable to hire private lawyers or defend themselves. She vigorously prepared all aspects of their cases from investigation to depositions to trials. She has handled huge caseloads including felonies, traffic cases, juvenile delinquencies and domestic violence matters.Julia particularly enjoyed training new attorneys and she eventually became a lead attorney in a specialized division for 5 years. Of her experience there she states:"I feel privileged to have worked for such a prestigious office. It is an office which dedicates all its resources to protecting the constitutional rights of indigent citizens and I believe very strongly in this cause. My work there helped me learn how to connect with people in every aspect of the court system, including judges, prosecutors, victims, witnesses, court personnel, those accused of crimes and their families. This experience strengthened my confidence and removed any shred of fear or confronting difficult situations, especially in the courtroom".As a law student at American University Washington College of Law, she focused on Constitutional Law, Interned for the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, Represented Veterans before the Board of Veterans Appeals in their quests for benefits, represented Government Employees fighting unfair demotions and terminations and Interned with the Copyright Royalty Tribunal where her job was to rewrite legislation into plain English. It is clear from all of these choices that her goal is to defend those who need her help to defend themselves. In 2006, it became obvious to Julia that there was a strong need in the community for a bankruptcy attorney who would not victimize those who have already been gouged by greedy lenders, brokers and others. Bankruptcy, Loan Modification, Foreclosure Defense and related Fraud Defense were a natural addition to her practice. What motivates Julia?"Over time, I grew to understand that I would be perfect for this profession because of my strong personality and leadership skills. I love to argue, negotiate, write and especially defend those who need my help to defend themselves. This last part comes from my father. He was an immigrant from Greece, an earthquake refugee, an underdog; like those I like to fight for most."

My philosophy towards the practice of law is customer service! It is a firm-wide policy to return phone calls and emails on the same day they are received. My second aim is to educate people about their rights and duties under the law. Listen every Saturday at 5pm on 540 AM WFLA (http://www.540wfla.com/main.html) to my radio show, where I discuss a variety of legal topics and hopefully entertain at the same time.
Professionally I am a self-employed accountant, attorney, and mediator with over 45 years of combined experience. I am a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, and Albany Law School. I moved to South Florida in 1995. I am most proud of my family, Verenice my wife, and my two children David and Lindsey. Verenice earned her law degree in Peru and is my spiritual partner. David is an Afghanistan war veteran, has earned his master’s degree, and is currently teaching social studies. Lindsey speaks several languages and is currently attending law school.
I am a successful and proactive business professional with highly effective communications and people skills. I have a proven ability to produce and contribute to the success of an organization, minimizing expenses and risk exposure, while maximizing profits and quality control affording me the time and energy to give back to the community.
Here are some of my qualifications:
Admitted in both Southern & Middle district Federal Court and Tax Court.
Member of the Bars of the State of Florida, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Former President of Lauderhill Chamber of Commerce and Sister Cities.
Treasurer of Lauderdale by the Sea Chamber of Commerce.
Treasurer of Broward Coalition of Homeowners and condo Associations.
Board member of LBTS Planning and Zoning board.
I developed a 501(c) (3) not for profit organization, in 2007 to answer the common question regarding South Florida. Why is Florida usually ranked in the top five of all the negative social challenges in our country? From divorce to Aids, perhaps the common denominator is the one thing that we all do not like about our area. The fact that we are accustomed to the lack of cohesiveness in our neighborhoods. While this may not be the only reason why we are in the negative top five, but it is perhaps the most cost effective; with the biggest bang for the buck to fix.
It is a lot harder to hurt someone that you know and have to look in the eye than a total stranger. Once you meet your neighbor, and give time to develop friendships, then a network of support begins and the cohesive community is grown, and we all the better for it.
The organization offers a three pronged approach to answering this question. First, we provide the tools necessary to develop or to improve employable job skills. By increasing those in need to increase their self-sufficiency they become more prosperous, achieve good paying jobs, and be more likely to stay in their neighborhood long-term. The transient nature of Florida is a true challenge to overcome in resolving our social issues.
Secondly, we organize and manage many unique community events as a means to bring people together in their own local neighborhood. Too many community events are just that an event to display services, but nothing about developing relationships. For example, we feed thousands of people during our Thanksgiving Holiday Orphan Meal (THOM). Served in multiple locations throughout South Florida simultaneously as a sit down meal. THOM is not a feeding event alone. It is a true exercise in building friendships and in developing our surrounding communities.
Admitted in both Southern & Middle district Federal Court, Tax Court. member of the Bars of the State of Florida, Palm Beach., Miami-Dade., and Broward.
I am the former President of Lauderhill Chamber of Commerce, Sister Cities, Treasurer of Lauderdale by the Sea Chamber of Commerce,, and Broward Coalition of Homeowners and condo Associations, Board member of LBTS Planning and Zoning board.
Finally, we work with other not for profits and civic organizations in supporting their missions and efforts in assisting our community. By building partnerships we do not need to reinvent the wheel, working smarter rather than harder, increases efficiency and effectiveness.
We are always in need for volunteers and seeking community partnerships.
Thank you for your support.Eric Yankwitt

My experience as a Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee allowed me to travel thoughout Northern Arizona. Now as a private bankruptcy lawyer I still travel to Mohave County to see clients in Bullhead City and Kingman and to Yavapai County to see clients in Cottonwood.
My home is in Flagstaff,. As a small town lawyer I can offer clients a low key atmosphere to discuss the fears of mounting debt, garnishments, foreclosures and tax collections. Our goal is to help guide our people through the stress of getting rid of their debt.
I thank my clients and our Northern Arizona location for allowing me to pursue my hobbies-- running marathons, playing mandolin in a contra dance band, and spending time with my family.

Money problems have a significant effect on people's lives. We realize that at my firm and we work hard to make life easier for folks who are in debt.
Most people who are burdened by debt feel helpless - even hopeless - but I have been a bankruptcy attorney for over 30 years and I can tell you that there is a solution to your problems.
I offer a free consultation, so come on in and see for yourself. We do not take any short cuts at my firm. I will spend whatever time it takes with you to find the best solution to your problems.
In addition to bankruptcy and debt settlement, I file lawsuits against debt collectors who break the law and that happens a lot more often than you might think. Even if you owe the money, creditors have to abide by the law. A lot of collectors violate the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) because they collect a lot of money by harassing people beyond the limits of what the law allows. For instance, they cannot call you on your cell phone without your prior written consent. They can't threaten you. They can't use profanity. There are many more restrictions on what they can and cannot do and I will evaluate your case for violations and take your case to court if I find any.
People who have money problems often feel shame. If you think you're alone, look around. Today's economy has affected people from all walks of life. Your friends. Your neighbors. Your relatives. You.
I'll help you restore your life, your credit, your peace of mind and, most of all, your dignity.
Even the Bankruptcy Code says you're entitled to a "fresh start". I'm here to help you get one.

Gary Francis Zilaff
1545 River Park Dr #201, Sacramento
I am a lawyer from a legal family with deep roots in the Sacramento/California area. My family first came to California in the mid 1800's and were prominent ranchers. In the past century my family turned to the law profession, and has now produced a total of five (5) lawyers over three generations, practicing from California to Australia. I worked with my father Francis W. "Bud" Zilaff from 1977 until his death in 1997. He taught me to always treat clients with the same care and respect I would my own family and to always return phone calls. I have practiced in two main areas over my 37 year legal career: Bankruptcy and Probate. I find that no matter how carefully people have planned their financial affairs life has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs such as divorce, loss of a spouse or partner, illness, loss of a job, or disability. All of these situations can lead to enormously difficult financial woes such as foreclosures of houses, creditor harassment, judgments and levies or garnishments. I have helped a huge number of clients by stopping these terribly hurtful legal actions so that they can catch their breath. Clients tell me that they can sleep peacefully for the first time in years after receiving my help. The above takes a lot of careful and compassionate listening, as does my other legal emphasis: Wills, Trusts and Probate. I am happy to discuss and help my clients with any of their legal needs.
It might also be of interest to potential clients that I am actively involved with the cultural and social life of Sacramento. I am involved in local charities and social organizations which round out my life. I am a linguist and teach Hawaiian language at a local cultural center, and try to keep in good shape by working out daily at my health club.
I graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1969, received my Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Santa Clara University in 1973, and received by Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge Law School of Law. I went into practice with my father and continued until his death in 1997. Since that time I have practiced in my own law firm, The Law Offices of Gary F. Zilaff. You can reach me at (916)920-5025, or through e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will share with you an hour consultation at no charge or obligation.

A graduate of Lackawanna High in 1989 and Canisus College in 1993 where I earned a dual major in Policial Science (B.A.) and Sociology (B.A.), as well as a certificate in Criminal Justice (A.A.). I then attended the University of Toledo, College of Law, earning a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 1996.
Following graduation from Law School, I sucessfully passed the Michigan Bar and began my practice in Monroe County, just south of Detroit. There, I worked my way up to partner at the firm of VanWasshenova, Wisher and Yorkey, LLC (later named Wisher & Yorkey, LLP), where my prminary focus was in Criminal Defense, Bankruptcy, Family Law, Juvenile Deliquency, Trusts and Estates, and Real Estate. However, seizing the opporunity to work at a larger firm, I was hired and later became partner at the firm of Grenn & Wisher, LLP, establishing the Bankruptcy Services of Monore County, where I was the lead attorney, filing several hundred Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases per year. I simultaneously maintained my practice in the areas of Criminal Defense, Family Law and Real Estate. In additonal to being licensed by the State Bar of Michigan, I was also admitted to practice in the District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (Bankruptcy), and was a member of the Monore County Bar Association, as well as the cooperating attorney with the United Auto Workers for Bankruptcy, Divorce and Criminal Defense.
After the birth of my first son, I relocated to the Western New York area and was hired by the firm of Kelly & Swetz, LLP, where my main focus was on real estate transactions, representing buyers, sellers, and lenders. I sucessfully closed hundreds of real estate transactions per year. However, desiring to get back to all areas of the law and litigation, I changed job opportunities and became a member of the Law Offices of Randy Gugino. There, I grew the Bankruptcy practice offered by the firm and additonally handled divorce and family court, criminal defense and trust and estate cases.
After learning and honing my legal skills in two states, over 14 years, in 2009 I decided to open my own law firm and have been sucessfully handling Bankruptcy, Divorce and Family Court matters, Real Estate transactions, criminal defense, and trusts and estate planning ever since. I am a member of the the New York State Bar, as well as the Erie County Bar Association, licensed to practice at the local, states and federal level in the Western District of New York.
