RESPONSIBILITES: The PCA Apprentice will work under the delegation and supervision of the Nurse Manager or nurse and will learn to perform the following duties: Discontinuing IVs and Restraint Monitoring Collecting patient data including vital signs, weights, intake and output of fluids. Collecting routine patient specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose. Responding to call lights, helping with activities of daily living such as toileting, bed baths and other patient cares. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: None Required Experience: None Required Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: CPR certification (American Heart BLS for Healthcare Providers) obtained within 2 months of hire. You will receive onsite training. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Demonstrates basic computers skills or the ability to achieve proficiency within 3 months Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co-workers. Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks within the scope of practice of the position. Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/family preferences Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience utilizing strong customer service skills Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Degree or equivalent Experience: Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC) Excellent written and verbal communication skills The PCA Apprenticeship Program will be a .7 (56 hours per two week pay period) and will be a rotating day and evening shifts, with every other weekend required.
