Africa Unity..Why can't we Africans come together to form one country just like Kwame Nkrumah proposed?..There's already USA and so we can become UA, as United Africa. Kwame Nkrumah saw the vision in the 60s and said if we don't unite and become one country, we shall fight among ourselves as it is happening. We have everything from A to Z..our continent is the richest and yet we are considered as the poorest..why because we don't manage our resources well to benefit our people. To this scenario, Kwame Nkrumah said, "Africans are poor but Africa is not poor" and this is very true. Our current leaders have failed us, making us embark on dangerous voyages like across the Mediterranean sea to seek greener pastures in Europe and elsewhere. Because of some selfish African leaders, who connived with the CIA, Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown and now look at what's happening to our great continent-poverty, illiteracy, disease and hunger. Let us Africans put pressure on our leaders to develop our countries so we don't cross the sahara desert just to escape poverty. Bob Marley, may his soul rest in peace, even sang it: AFRICA UNITE, FOR THE BENEFIT OF YOUR PEOPLE

After reading your post I was so happy, but believe it there is so much division, greed, hatred in African community that will make it impossible for us to have such a country. Example is xenophobia in S.A, it’s gonna be totally impossible. But I think African Nation should hold their leaders accountable so that we will stop traveling to Europe or America looking for our daily bread. My humble opinion.

They all came together like you said, but each of those African leaders had a motive of desiring to be in charge and also most of their ideologies were kind of pseudo because when they finally got the power their thinking went backwards,Jomo Kenyatta for example got there and stayed in power so long and did not even relinquish power to an outsider but his son after many years ,the same thing Mugabe upon all the dividends of democracy he brought to Zimbabwe ,fighting for independence ,changing the name from Rhodesia to Zimbabwe and helping the currency to grow ,he squandered all these when he got to power ,so their idea was pseudo and so whatever plans they had cannot be replicated in African Unity because it wasn’t real to begin [[Sign In to see link]] can recall that it was this call for unity that made Gamel Abdel Nasser of Egypt joined hands with the likes of Nkrumah and also made Kofi Anan marry an Egyptian but after their initial gathering they knew it will not work because of the motive of each of those African leaders .

It is sad to see lot of suffering and suppression of African people by their governments. Yet Africa is one of the richest continent on this earth. Take this as my own opinion, but I believe Africans we can turn around things better for ourselves and can be improved more by generations to come. More interestingly, because as Africans you are asking yourselves why things are not right on our continent and why revolutional dreams are faded or fainted. Which means there is hope in generation of today. For sure if things are not right as they are now.We need some kind of putting things on table and discuss good and [[Sign In to see link]] also important we tend to put blame on others without weighing our own responsibilities as individuals to our Africa. But for an enemy to find a way of manipulating things, there is always that weakness we are ignoring which needs our attention. Honestly our current leadership have failed they are now in survival mode, and you find organizations like SADC, ECOWAS,Africa Union are no longer functioning as initiated to serve nations, but t now to protect leaders. There is no proper system to maintain accountability on African governments, that's why we find individuals getting into power with big dreams then turns into monsters to their constituents. Even though the situation is as it is, I still believe grassroots have power to change things, much is needed in educating people the power they possess to make it functional. The change we want is not by physical fight or war.The desire is there in people, we cannot depend on leadership but we can make them (leaders) work and account for their deeds. Trying to achieve this as individual countries is bound to fail and again the enemy will always find more chance of playing against each other. We cannot all be politicians but all areas in Africa now needs Young Africans to raise up their game .Truly our music, arts, science haven't been exploited enough to be on same standards as other continents, yet the little exposed is receiving great attraction on world market. Generation of today responsibility of us is to account the level we are at now, and find better ways in the failing of the past.

The biggest problem in Africa is religion. It is a curse. It has been proven that places that are highly religious tends to be poor. Take U.S for example, the poorest and uneducated states in the United States are regarded as very religious. Religion is a psychological disease with no cure. Yes leaders in Africa are corrupt but please show me a so called advance country whose leaders not corrupt. Religion is so bad that it limits the people to come up with ideas to solve lots of our problems. A lot of Africans see Religion as magic, they believe that so called GOD will provide them with better living, infrastructure, means of wealth etc.

All I can say is, for me Man was created by God , and God exists. That doesn't stop anyone to have their beliefs which are different from mine. The problem comes when we became judgmental and thinking above everybody, and misinterpreting information which we may not fully understand or have full knowledge of [[Sign In to see link]] this that's how you find people having difficulties in resolving issues of daily living way and categorizing each other. We can have one common ground we all agree to love humanity and nature. I would assume we all love our existence and to live in peace . Although we might have different ways of understanding that Love exists and flows among living life, but the important reason is we all have love and that our first base. For me love is from God but for you , you might have your own understanding where love comes from. Love teaches us to co exist and respect each other. Therefore in respect of love in our different ways can make us have a common ground of establishing what is good way of co existing. Yes there's corruption around the world, however we cannot just say it's ok for African Leaders to be corrupt. Take Europe or America there are institutions functioning effectively auditing and making those in power account to their constituents. Comparing them to ours in Africa they are not existing. If they are there, they are being misused, instead of protecting the nation Africa, they being manipulated by African leaders to serve their personal interests. As long as we continue to leave everything in the hands of leaders without us as people taking responsibility maintaining the mandate and purpose , we will continue to be victims of this. Expecting individual countries to establish their own, has its own weaknesses of recurring negative forces and can spread to others again and again. Only we become one and start setting up standards which can become a base for individual countries.

You see Ghadafi proposed having a single currency and ensuring that the westerners pay heavily for our resources but what happened? His people ganged up against him. Our problem is deep rooted. First of all the fact that there’s xenophobia, Ghanaians killing Nigerians , Nigerians seeing themselves as superiors and Egyptians thinking they are not Africans because of the skin color makes it a big problem.
